teaching a class about which i know little

I have the rather uncomfortable task of teaching a class about media technologies. While I feel confident that I can wax on and on about the role of technologies in culture and society, i actually know little about how new technologies actually work. I mean, how does a satellite transmit its signal, how does a cell phone pick up that signal. I dont really care.
